Sketch Development
The client wanted the product to have a futuristic, technical armor appearance that would appeal to their gamer market base. I pulled inspiration from video game armor as well as real-world body armor and bulletproof vests during my sketch development.
Refinement
The client gravitated toward my designs that showcased the suit's haptic feedback pads and didn't hide them within the vest. Using this input, I refined the arrangement and sizing of the pads so that they would sit comfortably on the body and provide feedback in the appropriate areas.
Physical Prototype
I sewed a physical prototype of the suit so that we could perform user-testing. The design was refined using input gathered from users at industry conventions where the prototype was shown. The suit's pads were 3D printed and snapped together so we could rapidly prototype and tweak the internal components as needed.
